The setup: everyone knows the Espresso Martini. But coffee and booze go far deeper than one drink — and a couple of these will make you look like you've been behind a bar. Here are three worth adding to your rotation.
1. The Carajillo — the one bartenders are obsessed with
A Spanish/Mexican favorite having a serious moment: 1.5 oz Licor 43 over ice, topped with a shot of fresh espresso, gently stirred. Vanilla-warm, not too sweet, and dead simple. If the Espresso Martini is a night-out drink, the Carajillo is the smooth after-dinner move.
2. The White Russian — the cozy classic
2 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz cream, built over ice and stirred. Dessert in a rocks glass, and yes — it still rules.
3. Irish Coffee — the original coffee cocktail
Hot coffee, 1.5 oz Irish whiskey, a spoon of brown sugar, and a float of lightly whipped cream poured over the back of a spoon so it layers. Warm, boozy, timeless.
Bonus: the Espresso Tonic
Low-proof and refreshing: espresso over ice, topped with tonic (add a splash of amaro to spike it). Bright, bittersweet, and the coffee drink of a hot afternoon.
🍐 A little hat tip to the pear
The best nightcap is the one that doesn't cost you the morning. Gush — the Korean pear pre-drink — is a small ritual before the night begins, so the last round is as fun as the first. Meet Gush →
Please drink responsibly.
