How The Gush Lab Works — Our Editorial & Evidence Standards
The Gush Lab is where we explain the science and culture behind drinking better — how to prevent hangovers, how alcohol actually works in your body, and how to enjoy a night out. Because a lot of this touches health, we hold ourselves to a real evidence bar. Here's who writes it, and how.
Who writes The Gush Lab
The Gush Lab is led by Josh Bruni, Gush's Chairman & Builder. Josh sets the direction and point of view, working with the Gush Lab editorial team to research, draft, and fact-check every article. Gush exists because of one specific fruit and the research behind it — so getting the science right isn't optional for us, it's the whole brand.
Our evidence standards
- We cite primary sources. When we reference research — like the peer-reviewed 2013 CSIRO human trial on Korean pear and hangover severity — we link to it so you can read it yourself.
- We separate proven from traditional. We're clear about what's backed by human studies versus what's centuries of traditional use, and we don't blur the two.
- We don't overclaim. Gush supports your body's alcohol-processing enzymes (ADH and ALDH); it isn't a cure, and we won't pretend otherwise.
- We flag uncertainty. Where the evidence is early or a study is small, we say so plainly.
What we won't do
We won't make medical claims the evidence doesn't support, and nothing in The Gush Lab is medical advice — for your own situation, talk to a healthcare professional. And we'll always tell you to drink responsibly, because we mean it.
Updates & corrections
Science moves, and so do we — we update articles as the evidence evolves. If you think we've gotten something wrong, email support@drinkgush.com and we'll review it.
